Once Shri Durga Prasad Tridvedi went to Baba Shri AmritNathji Maharaj with a book about the songs of Kabria Das, which he intended to read to babaji. He told Babaji that kabir was a good saint. He wanted to read some verses to him. Babaji told him that Kabir was not a saint (Mahatma) but a devotee, and he did not compose any verse. His followers wrote his thoughts in form of verses. Babaji then enlightened Durga Prasadji about the Vedas, scriptures mythologies etc and discussed in brief about their mystic secrets, the causes of their creation and other good points. Hearing Babaji's words, Durga Prasadji felt enlightened all of a sudden and enjoyed a different kind of happiness.

Babaji then told Durga Prasad Ji that if he wanted, he too could compose poems. After being blessed with the ability to compose poems Durga Prasadji returned to his residence and sat down to compose a poem. He was amazed to find that in twenty minutes he could composed a beautiful verse of 9 lines. His heart was filled with enthusiasm and contentment. He started composing poems on Shiva & Shakti by the name 'Sankara'.

Later in his life he started composing poems on yoga, devotion, detachment, prayer etc. His verses were published in the book titled "Shri Vilakshan Avadhoot Paramhans Shri Amrit Nathji Maharaj"

At the initiative of Mahant Shri Narhari Nathji Maharaj, these verses were translated in English. Some of these verses are presented here.
